Mr. Jess Sheets went to be with the Lord February 24, 2012. He was born March 18, 1921 in Buladean.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elizabeth Gilley Sheets and Len Sheets, three brothers, Ike Sheets, Clyde Sheets, and Arthur Putman, five sisters, Verna Honeycutt, Lockie Casey, Martha Lyons, Rosa Bryant, and Mary Francis.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Virginia Campbell Sheets of Buladean, one daughter, Patricia (Phil Robinson), of Spruce Pine, one son, L. G. Sheets (Joan Sloss), of Buladean, one granddaughter, Theresa (Rick Hutchins), of Johnson City, one grandson, David Sheets also of Johnson City, and one great granddaughter, Jenna Hutchins.
Jess was a member of RoansChapel Freewill BaptistChurch. He was a Farmer and Sawmiller for many years. He drove the school bus at Buladean for over 40 years, and most in Buladean have ridden his bus. He would always have candy in his pockets for them. He was a Custodian at Buladean School for several years. He loved music and often played his guitar, banjo and would sing. He loved helping people.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 8:00PM in the chapel of Henline – Hughes Funeral Home with Rev Lester “Bo” Perkins and Rev J. C. Sheets officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Interment will be Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11:00AM at CampbellCemetery.
